Akira has been a great companion for me. I had never had a small dog before, having grown up with german shepherds and then having a husky. She has never been dainty, and has climbed mountains with me, literally. She would always be pacing me, running twice the distance, hopping up and over logs, and panting with sheer happiness. People would see her on the trail and say 'oh, what a big hike for you! Poor thing!' Poor thing? I was the one who needed the sympathy, huffing and puffing and red in the face, lol! | You may recognize her. She is my model for my 20% off first visit ad :) And yes, that is her at the top of the blog, greeting you through the knot-hole. Akira was my sister's dog's baby, and she was an only child. She got aaaall the milk, and it showed! She had the biggest roundest belly, so that her little paws barely touched the ground when you put her down! Akira is our Baby Girl, and goes everywhere with us. Unfortunately, she doesn't quite enjoy boating as much as we do. One boating/camping trip I will always remember, the water was really choppy... Akira was rather unhappy :( There was a rolled up sleeping bag at my feet and she tunneled her way into the centre of it until just her tail was poking out one end and her nose was poking out the other side, lol! Akira-bira Baby Girl, queen of the house and ever attentive watch dog. |
